Day 5 - One Day Kyoto - 7 Days 6 Nights Itinerary – Japan (Part 4)

2th April - Day 5
Kyoto

Internet Café

  • Even though I woke up a few times during my sleep because of the cold, I had quite a deep sleep in the Internet Café.
  • After washing up, I had boiled Indomie for breakfast and a cup of hot water. We checked out and ready to start our day in Kyoto. Surprisingly, Internet Café is busier in the early morning than at night :)
  • We arrived at Kyoto Station with only crossing the street from the Internet Café. We rent a medium locker for our baggage (2 cabin baggage), cost 700 yen.

Fushima Inari

  • Fushima Inari (JR Inari Station) is only 1 stop away from Kyoto Station and situated across of the JR Inari Station. It’s not even 8 am but the shrine’s already has visitors. The weather was nice, we did a bit hiking and took many pictures in this famous red shrine. We enjoy the view and took sometimes to read people wishes hanging in the some kind of wall. Amen to all the wishes friends…

Kyoto Tower

  • Back to Kyoto Station for our Kimono rental appointment. We arrived early, so we still have time to get our Kyoto one day bus pass (600 yen) at the ticket office outside the Kyoto Station and enjoy some hot Chocolate at Starbucks at the Ground Floor of the Kyoto Tower building, where Wargo Kimono Rental situated at 3F Floor.
  • We reserved this Kimono Rental back in Jakarta via web and cost 3.132 yen (included tax) per pax. We just need to show our print out reservation and they will assign an assistant to help you choose a Kimono, clutch, and sandal and then help to wear them.
  • Initially I was worry that Kimono’s not enough to keep us warm because there’s still winter wind even though it’s already spring. But, I was really surprise when we exit the building and felt really warm with only wearing Kimono and the white socks for our feet. Hmmm… With this, we could take many beautiful pics around Kyoto while wearing Kimono :)

Kinkaku-ji – The Golden Temple

  • After a while of waiting in line, we finally took a bus to Kinkaku-ji – The Golden Temple and enjoy the view Kyoto. As we arrived at the bus stop, unfortunately the rain poured, so we bought umbrella because we have to ensure the Kimono stay clean to avoid pay fine. To reach Kinkaku-ji, we need to walk around 1k from the bus stop.
  • The entrance fee for Kinkaku-ji is 400 yen. We came at noon, so Kinkaku-ji’s packed with visitors and it’s a bit hard to take beautiful pics of us.
  • The Kinkaku-ji – The Golden Temple is very beautiful, and I think one of the famous view of this temple is the view of the temple along with its shadow in the lake, it’s so beautiful and we managed to witness it ourselves, hehe…

“Kiyomizudera”

  • Next destination is the famous Kiyomizudera, one of UNESCO Heritage in Kyoto. This’s a must visit tourist site at our Kyoto Itinerary :) :)
  • Took a bus and hiked to Kiyomizudera in an old pedestrian complex set. It’s in the afternoon, the pedestrian were really busy, there were people hiked and came down the area. After some hiked and turn right/ left in the pedestrian complex, we finally arrived in the temple with a quite huge area and assumed “this is Kiyomizudera”.
  • We took pics, sightseeing, have quite fun, and wondering where were the famous Kiyomizudera stage? Since the area was quite big, we assumed maybe we just couldn’t find it and also the temple quite crowded, so we decided to conclude our tour because we need to return the Kimono at 6 pm sharp.

OTW ke Osaka

  • Back to Kyoto Station, we returned the Kimono, ask for direction how to took train to Osaka. Information desk gave us a map and some notes. In our way to Osaka by train, my friend kept on reading Kyoto tourist map and suddently exclaim with regret “hey!!! the place we visited isn’t Kiyomizudera, it’s Yasaka Shrine. I kept thinking why couldn’t we find the Kiyomizudera’s stage. So, that’s why… meeeehh”.
  • I also still curious about that and finally got the answer, there’re a bit regret because Kiyomizudera was a must visit tourist site at our Kyoto Itinerary. But, what can we say? So I told my friend “Yeaahh… it’s a shame, but be positive, we also had some fun at Yasaka Shrine, maybe we can go there next time, hehheee….” We need to keep the mood positive because we still have a few days ahead in this short holiday.
  • One day at Kyoto are truly not enough, hope there would be a next time :)

Capsule Hotel

  • In Osaka, we stayed at Capsule Hotel “Stay Osaka” which around 6 to 8 minutes walk from Nippombashi station. It’s very easy to find despite the many turns and intersections, “Stay Osaka” gave a very detail direction include pictures of building/ sign in every spot which guest need to pay attention in every turns to get to the hotel (check booking.com).
  • We arrived at the hotel a bit before 10 pm, check in and have a nice bath before sleeping. The capsule hotel is clean, the bed is quite spacious and come with a safe box, and you can put your baggage in the corner of the room. You got card to access the front door and your room, which should be returned when check out. I particularly love the “kitchen area”, there’s microwave, electronic kettle, and free tea and coffee :) :) There’s also map for tourist attraction and Osaka Dotonbori culinary which came with voucher discount, hehehe… We enjoy our stay here…
